We would welcome your suggestions on how we could improve things at St Mary’s for the under fives and their families. If you would like to comment, email Napo John at napojohn@hotmail.com

“123” Parents, Carers and Toddlers Group

Our 123 group is for children aged 0 to 3 and their parents or carers.

We meet on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 pm during term time in the church hall.

123 is staffed by a team of volunteers, giving parents time to chat.

The children take part in fun activities, such as painting, stitching, play-dough and singing. We also have lots of larger toys and the space for children to play with them.

We have special events such as the Christmas nativity play and the New Year party.

We ask you to pay 70p per child each week, to cover the cost of materials and a drink. With any profit we make we support the Bergholt children’s ward in Ipswich hospital.

“Loaves and Fishes” Toddler Service

Loaves and Fishes is a 20 minute toddler’s service with songs, a fun bible story and short prayers.

It happens fortnightly in the Symond’s room at the back of the church hall during the 123 group.

Why do we call it Loaves and Fishes?

The story of the loaves and fishes in the Bible reminds us how Jesus can take ordinary things, like loaves of bread and fishes, and people like you and me, and do extraordinary things with them.

Facilities for Young Children in St Mary’s

Young children always welcome at our 10 o’clock services. There are always other families with young children there, and we can cope with noise!

We have a play mat and toy bags in church

And a "noisy room" where children can play while parents watch the service on a video link

Most services start with a children’s slot.

Junior Church

Children have their own activities in Junior church most Sundays, except when there is a Church Family Service. Take a look at our Young Christians page to find out more details.

At St Mary’s we carefully operate a Child Protection Policy, ensuring that all children are safe from harm while in our care. A copy of the policy is displayed at the back of church.

Monthly Church Family Services

These are designed for people of all ages.

We have them on the third Sunday in every month at 10 o’clock.

They last for about an hour, and include children’s activities.

The services have a very informal feel to them, & we don’t mind noisy children!

“TGI Friday” homegroup for mums with children

TGI Friday (Thank God It’s Friday!) is run by mums for mums with pre-school and school aged children. It meets in a home, and has a staffed crèche in the room next door.

TGIF meets from 9.30 to 11.30. We start with tea & coffee & chat. Then we either have a Bible Study or discuss relevant topics. Recent ones have included bringing up our children in the Christian faith, suffering, and the modern day slave trade.

Other Events

We and other churches in the area periodically run or host other events designed to support under fives and their families, such as parenting courses and marriage enrichment courses.

If you would like to advertise a local event (Felixstowe, Ipswich or Woodbridge) which is designed to support marriage and family life, please email details to our web master at stevewrowe@hotmail.com
