The Walton Church CC 25 Year Celebration was months in the planning, but seemed to be over in an instant!

Thank you if you were able to come, entered the raffle, gave a donation or just got in touch. There were 50 of us there on the night, including 23 current or ex Walton players (including Phil & Sue Lagdon who came up from Southampton especially), as well as players from the P & O/Dock Co, Felixstowe Corinthians, BFP, Fire Service, Trimley & Felixstowe sides. I'm pleased to be able to tell you that an amazing £350 has been raised in relation to the Celebration so far, from the sale of DVD's, the raffle and donations! £274 will go to Tear Fund, £66 to Leather on Willow, and £10 was donated specifically to Club funds. The raffle by itself raised nearly £100! The winners were as follows: Full size bat signed by Brian Lara: Andy Shaw (Corinthians), Meal for 2 at Bombay Nite: Mark Adams (Walton), Walton Church CC DVD signed by Muttiah Muralitharan: Mike Osborne (Felixstowe/P & O), 2 tickets for Ipswich Town game: Dennis Chaplin (Fire Service), & 'Leather on Willow' book signed by Chaminda Vaas & Nuwan Zoysa: Geoff Bingley (Walton). Special Silver Jubilee presentations were made to Geoff Bingley (best batsman), Jes Rennie (best bowler), Ralph Fawkes (best all-rounder) & Andy Smethurst (best young player). So far, 36 DVD's of film of two matches from 1991 (against the Fire Service and P & O) have been sold. Copies are still available for £5, as are a small supply of the Leather on Willow book (price £7.99 - an ideal gift idea for a cricket lover!). If you pre-ordered a DVD, but have not yet received it, I hope to deliver them in the next 10 days or so! Finally, I would like to thank my wife Lyn, Debbie & Steve Rowe and Kim & Jes Rennie for all their help. The Celebration would not have happened without them! Special thanks go to Steve who has made a superb and professional job of the DVD production and booklet, in what has been a very time consuming process!

Thank you again, With best wishes

Brian
