St Mary’s Junior Church

St Mary’s runs an active Junior Church to enable our children to learn about Christ and begin their journey into Faith. We hold meetings during most 11 o’clock Sunday services.

We meet in the Church, There is quite often a short talk for the children at the beginning of the service. Then we go over to the hall for the main teaching activities. We return to the Church at about 10 past 11 to join in with the final acts of worship.

Junior Church is currently split into three groups.

Climbers - For ages 3 to 7 . This is our youngest group. They are starting their exploration of the Bible stories through fun and creative activities. Leader Nick Taylor

Explorers - For ages 8 to 11 . Starting to look at the Bible in more detail but still lots of fun and activities to take part in.

Pathfinders – For ages 12 to 14. Our older members are beginning to study the Bible and think about how their faith leads them in their life. Some Pathfinders will be starting to think about Confirmation and we link this with a Youth Alpha Course.

All groups take part in family services and will often help plan them.

Summer Term

Junior Church will be starting the new term on Sunday 6^th April. I hope that you all had a great Easter.

For the first half of this term we will be looking at The ‘Creator God’. How God created this wonderful world. We will be reading parts of Genesis Chapter 1.

During May we will be reading from Acts 2, 3 and 4. Finding out more about the way the Holy Spirit guided the Apostles through the early days of the Church.

During June we will be reading about the miracles of Jesus as described in chapter 8 of Matthew’s Gospel.

I hope that you will enjoy sharing this experience with our young people.
